Since 2005

Pakistan was founded on August 14th, 1947 and formed the largest Muslim state in the world at that time. Since the subcontinent was inhabited by people who migrated from all over the world belonging to different sects, religion, caste and colour, lines were drawn on map keeping in mind the Muslim majority areas. Pakistan became a diversity rich region. According to Ethnologue, 74 languages are spoken in Pakistan. Unfortunately, the people have struggled to co-exist with the minorities leading to a state of unrest in the country, countless extremist attacks and discrimination. Pakistan faces problems of poverty, illiteracy, corruption, hunger and economic crisis.

Where all of this is an overwhelming situation, talking about a solution becomes a compulsion. History has shown us that a revelation begins with a group of individuals working towards a goal. Pakistan was in dire need of a platform that empowers individuals and equips them with essential values so they can be an asset to their community. This is where AIESEC steps in. In 2004, Amin Hashwani attended the national conference of AIESEC in India and had a vision of bringing AIESEC to Pakistan. He said that “change begins with the individual himself”. In 2007 AIESEC in Pakistan became an individual entity opening an unparalleled world of opportunities for the young generation.

Currently, 64% of the nation is younger than 30. This is the age where young people are developing their personalities hence making it the most crucial time period in the life of an individual. Pakistan now has more younger people than it has ever had. Shaping the youth’s mindset for better can be a solution for all of the problems. If every individual is instilled with leadership qualities then he/she can work to their maximum potential in their respective fields.

Since 2005, AIESEC has played a dominant role in developing the nation’s youth. AIESEC in Pakistan has chapters in seven cities and more than 80 universities on board. AIESEC hosted over 10,000 leadership experiences through different programs i.e Global Volunteer, Global Teacher and Global Talent. We have partners locally and globally that help us in making cross-cultural exchanges possible in terms of internships and sponsorships. We are proud partners with Musalik.pk, Kickstart co-working space, Popcorn Studio and Step Consultancy. During the 15 year journey, we have created passionate youth leaders, driven entrepreneurs, compassionate social workers and will continue to do so.
